Baccarat Basics

Baccarat

baccarat is one of the most glamorous casino games in the world. It is played in many casinos in Asia, Europe and the United States. In fact, it accounts for 18% of the total casino win on the Las Vegas Strip.

Players are dealt two hands of cards. The goal of the game is to get closer to nine than the opposite hand. The banker has a slight advantage over the player. The house edge for the player bet is 1.24 percent, while the house edge for the banker bet is 1.06 percent.

A third card is then dealt to either the player or the banker. This card is drawn and placed face-up. The cards count according to how many “pips” are on the card face. a 10-count card counts as zero, while an ace counts as one.

The player’s hand must be a total of at least ten. If the first two cards are a five or less, the player must draw a third card. If the first two cards total nine, the player automatically wins. This is a ‘natural’.

A tie bet is paid out 8 to 1 if the banker and player finish with the same number of points. This bet is the most popular bet in the game. In casinos, the payout is usually 8 to 1.

The house edge for the Banker bet is 1.06 percent. The banker has a bit more freedom in the game.
